MedWest-Harris and MedWest-Swain offering free Life’s Path cancer support groups in December
Sylva and Bryson City, N.C. – MedWest-Harris and MedWest-Swain are offering the following free Life’s Path cancer support groups in December:
The Look Good, Feel Better Support Group will meet from 10 a.m. to noon, Monday, Dec. 3 in the Harris Medical Park conference room at 98 Doctors Dr. in Sylva. Trained cosmetologists will facilitate the workshop and teach women with cancer how to understand and care for changes in skin and hair that may occur during treatment.
The General Cancer Support Group for men and women dealing with any cancer diagnosis will meet from 5 to 6 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 6 in the Harris Medical Park conference room at 98 Doctors Dr. in Sylva. The group, which also welcomes caregivers, meets the first Thursday of every month.
The Man to Man Support Group for prostate cancer patients and survivors will meet from 7 to 8 p.m., Monday, Dec. 10 in the Harris Medical Park conference room at 98 Doctors Dr. in Sylva. The group meets the second Monday of each month. Hugh Moon and Joe Hurt, MD are co-chairmen of the American Cancer Society support group.
The MedWest-Swain WNC Breast Cancer Support Group will meet from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 11 in the private dining room next to the cafeteria at MedWest-Swain in Bryson City. This group meets the second Tuesday of every month.
The MedWest-Harris WNC Breast Cancer Support Group will not meet in December but will resume its regular meetings in January when it meets from 7 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 22 in the Harris Medical Park conference room at 98 Doctors Dr. in Sylva. This group typically meets the fourth Tuesday of every month.
