MedWest-Harris recognized for quality
SYLVA, N.C. – MedWest-Harris in Sylva has been recognized by the Premier healthcare performance improvement alliance and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
MedWest Health System Vice President of Quality/Regulatory Luanna Easton said MedWest-Harris received two awards for its Surgical Care Improvement Project from the Premier/Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ Hospital Quality Incentive Demonstration project. The awards are in the attainment and improvement categories, for meeting or exceeding quality scores from the prior two years, and for ranking in the top 20 percent of hospitals with the largest percentage of quality improvements.
“This national recognition demonstrates the commitment of the MedWest-Harris staff and physicians to provide care at the highest quality levels for every single patient that we have the honor to serve,” Easton said.
Based on its achievements in the evaluation, Easton said MedWest-Harris will receive an incentive payment of $15,641 from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
In its sixth year, the collaborative project evaluates hospitals’ delivery of high-quality care in the clinical areas of acute myocardial infarction, heart failure, coronary artery bypass graft, pneumonia, hip and knee replacement and the Surgical Care Improvement Project.
