MedWest-Haywood welcomes cardiologist Steven M. Gore, MD to Western Carolina Cardiology in Clyde starting Aug. 7
Clyde, N.C. – MedWest-Haywood welcomes cardiologist Steven M. Gore, MD to Western Carolina Cardiology in Clyde, starting Aug. 7.
Gore, who also is a Major in the United States Air Force Medical Corps, is joining Rachel Ash-Bernal, MD, Charles Gross, MD, Glenn Harris, MD, and David W. Peterson MD at Western Carolina Cardiology.

Gore is an experienced invasive cardiologist who is board-certified in cardiovascular diseases, nuclear cardiology and internal medicine. His procedural skills include exercise and chemical stress testing, nuclear perfusion testing, transesophageal and transthoracic echocardiography, ambulatory holter and event monitor interpretation, tilt-table testing, cardioversions, and diagnostic cardiac catheterizations.
Prior to joining Western Carolina Cardiology, Gore served as the Chief of Cardiology and Cardiopulmonary Element Leader at Eglin Air Force Base Hospital in Fort Walton Beach, Fla., which serves a tri-cities military patient population and is an academic center for an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) family medicine residency training program.
Gore’s military deployment history includes two deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan as a critical care air transport physician in support of Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom.
A native of Mississippi, Gore and his wife, Angela, have one son and three daughters.
Gore is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and has held memberships in the American Medical Association, the American College of Physicians, the Society of Nuclear Cardiology, the Society of Air Force Physicians, and the Southern Medical Association.
Gore received his medical degree in 2001 from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. He is licensed to practice medicine in North Carolina and Virginia.
Gore earned two bachelor’s degrees from Mississippi College in Clinton. His military education included training at the U.S. Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine, Brooks Air Force Base in Texas; at Wilford Hall Medical Center, Lackland Air Force Base in Texas; and at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center in Ohio.
Gore’s academic positions and appointments include serving as a teaching fellow in internal medicine and as a clinical instructor in medicine at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences.
