MedWest Home Care services now offering flu shots on the Haywood Campus Monday through Friday. 

Clyde, N.C.-Flu shots are now being given at the Home Care service building on the Haywood campus from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The flu vaccinations will continue to be given until there are no vaccines left to dispense. No appointment is necessary. The Home Care building is located directly behind MedWest-Haywood. 

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend that people get vaccinated against influenza as soon as the vaccine becomes available in their community. Influenza seasons are unpredictable, and can begin as early as October. 

The cost of the shots will be $20. Home Care will accept traditional Medicare and will file the insurance for the beneficiary. Vaccines are available for everyone over 18 years of age. 

The flu vaccine is necessary every year because flu viruses are constantly changing. It’s not unusual for new flu viruses to appear each year. The flu vaccine is formulated each year to keep up with the flu viruses as they change, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
