MedWest's “Look Good…Feel Better” workshops support women with cancer

SYLVA, N.C. – MedWest Health System is sponsoring a series of “Look Good … Feel Better” workshops in 2012 for women undergoing treatment for cancer. 

The free workshops are American Cancer Society programs facilitated by trained cosmetologists and offered in partnership with the National Cosmetology Association, the Personal Care Products Council Foundation and MedWest-Harris hospital in Sylva.  

Participants will learn how to care for changes in their skin and hair that may occur during medical treatment, and improve their overall self-image and appearance.  

“Look Good…Feel Better” workshops will be held from 10 a.m. to noon in the Conference Room of Harris Medical Park, 98 Doctors Drive. Workshop dates for 2012 are Feb. 6, April 2, June 4, Aug. 6, Oct. 1 and Dec. 3.  

Attendance per workshop is limited to 10 women. To register, call (828) 631-8100 and leave name and telephone number. Each participant will receive a complimentary makeup bag with brand-name cosmetics.  

“Look Good…Feel Better” workshops are part of MedWest Health System’s comprehensive cancer treatment services, including state-of-the-art diagnostic technology and advanced radiation therapy services at the Mountain Regional Cancer Center in Sylva. MedWest Health System’s cancer services team includes board-certified general surgeons, radiologists, oncologists, pathologists, healthcare professionals specializing in radiation therapy and nurse navigators who help patients step-by-step throughout the cancer treatment process.
